Communication Wars

ey peeps feast on my video bar. I've got trailers and videos of the movie Bride Wars. Well my entry today is on persuasive communication. I happened to catch the sneak preview of Bride Wars, and what better way to explicate on my content other than to use something recent, something eye-catching. Bride Wars which stars Hathaway and Hudson effectively portrays the use of persuasive communication between the two brides (BFFs) to force each other to change their wedding dates. The persuasion which started out subtle and benign spelled catastrophe towards the end of the show. The ladies even went to the extend of leaving each other with blue hair and a hideous tan. Till the very end, we see the linear model of communication cause disaster. When Hudson gets her colleague to replace "Hathaway's" cd, her colleague does not thinking Hudson would thank him for his maturity one day. On the contrary, Hudson was relieved that her colleague would save the situation by replacing Hudson's revenge with Hathaway's original cd. As such, neither did Hudson check with her colleague if he did so nor did her colleague mention to Hudson about his graciousness. In the end, yes it was disaster. This above highlighted situation clearly illustrates the limitations of the linear model. If the receiver had gotten back to the sender, then the drama could have been avoided.

the two bestfriends could have avoided all the drama if they had just simply communicated properly instead of sabotaging one another. Persuasive communication may seem to be one way of communicating effectively if you are trying to make a strong point in business perhaps but it’s not the best way to communicate between friends and family. It’s just asking for the friendship or relationship to fall apart. It seems abit barbaric and totally ineffective. Those two ladies are comical. Haha. I kind of think it’ll be cool to have the same wedding date as my bestfriend (:
